PETA's fields of application runs from functional testing of web applications over simple client/server scenarios to complex integration projects with a multitude of server components.

With PETA focusing on XML-based messages the whole variety of modern protocol standards can be accessed. For example XML-RPC, SOAP, UDDI, REST, RSS, ebXML, BizTalk, WebDAV, IOTP and all applications based on those protocols.

As a matter of course this also includes proprietary individual solutions.

Message formats which are not XML conforming can easily be integrated into the platform by using corresponding protocol adaptors.

Universal approach
PETA is able to test all distributed systems like e.g.:
  • Service oriented architectures (SOA)
  • 3-tier and multi-tier architectures (J2EE, .NET)
  • Web applications (HTML, Ajax)
  • Mobile applications and portals (WAP)
  • Client/server systems
  • Web services

PETA is applicable during the whole software life cycle:
  • During prototyping of new applications
  • As a reference application for test driven software development (TDD)
  • Immediately after availability of the specification
  • Right from the start through its simulation capability
  • During the whole development phase by integration and acceptance tests
  • After first customer shipment with regression tests of updates and upgrades
